Mr Sarela very carefully explained my surgery options and details of possible side effects and complications, I felt I could confidently make an informed decision. When my surgery date arrived Mr Sarela compassionately attended to all my medical needs and made sure I was fully comfortable and didn't rush my discharge.

Mr Sarela listened to all my thoughts and concerns and gave very good advice. He was very particular and gathered all the information that helped me to come to the conclusion that the Linx procedure was the correct treatment to use. He did offer all the options and I never felt pushed one way or the other. On the day of the surgery the staff made me feel calm and prepared. So far in the short amount of time I have had the linx implant my acid reflux is non existent and before the implant my reflux was severe and often. I would definitely recommend this procedure, surgeon and hospital.

I was quite nervous about booking my initial consultation with Mr Sarela. The thought of having surgery for something that I felt was my fault and feeling silly for letting my weight get out of hand, but after years of battling with my weight it was, for me, my final chance. My husband and I researched the internet and found Mr Sarela. We read about his qualifications, his places of work and his reviews and decided that Mr Sarela was the best person to talk to. Making a decision to have a procedure like this was a big step but I was confident I had selected the right surgeon. From the minute we walked into the Nuffield Leeds upto now, 6 months later I feel I have had the best possible care. Mr Sarela is a very gently spoken man and I felt at ease with him from the first moment I met him. In the initial consultation he explained everything regarding the different procedures that were on offer to me. He was happy to discuss any of my thoughts and things I was unsure of. Mr Sarela was in no way pushy or demanding that I had the procedure, it was left entirely up to me to go away and have a think about it and get in touch if I wanted to go ahead - which of course I did. I managed to get my surgery date approximately 4 weeks later which was great. I had made the decision so wanted to get on with it. I had a pre op visit to have all my checks done and the week before my surgery I was put on a very low fat diet. This was a liver reducing diet to help with the operation. I actually found this diet ok and managed to lose 10lbs but I knew I had to do it as I wanted to lessen my chances of any complications in surgery. So the day arrived. I was nervous but kind of excited. I think I was more nervous about being put to sleep than anything else but the care I got from the nurses who booked me in, to the theatre team, was fantastic. They totally put me at ease. So that was me pre op. A few hours later and it was the start of the new me. The care I received after my operation was fantastic. My short stay in hospital and my after care from Mr Sarela was excellent. He kept in touch with my own GP to make sure I was on top of my medication and that nothing got missed. Finally if you were to ask me if I were to recommend Mr Sarela and The Nuffield Leeds to anyone I would say 100% yes every time.
